edofe TROUBLESHOOTING

I've forgotten my username

You should have written this down somewhere but if you can't remember it you need to contact your leader.

I'VE FORGOTTEN MY PASSWORD

Enter your USERNAME on the edofe LOGIN page and you will be sent a temporary password to the email address your leader listed for you when you were registered.  You enter this temporary password and when you gain entrance to the edofe site you choose a new password.  WRITE IT DOWN  SOMEWHERE SAFE!!

WHAT IS A DIRECT ENTRANT?

If you register for Silver but have not previously completed Bronze or you enter for Gold having not previously completed Silver, you are a DIRECT ENTRY PARTICIPANT.  You will be required to do 6 additional months at one of your three sections, Volunteering, Physical or Skill.

How do I submit my three sections for approval before I commence them?

When you choose the length of each activity e.g. 3 months, 6 months or 12 months you enter the details in the section and at the bottom of the page you click on SUBMIT TO LEADER.  Your proposed activity is forwarded to your leader who will check if it meets the criteria for that section and will either approve it or query it.  If they query it you will receive a message on edofe stating the query.  If they approve it then a yellow arrow will show on your file which indicates that you have commenced that section.

What IF I WANT TO CHANGE MY ACTIVITY?

You need to go to that section on your edofe file and click on REVERT TO DRAFT.  When you do this you can change your activity but remember to also click on SUBMIT TO LEADER so that they can again check if it is suitable.

IF I CHANGE MY ACTIVITY DOES WHAT I HAVE ALREADY DONE COUNT TOWARDS MY SECTION?

Yes, if you spend two months on an activity e.g. playing football and change to basketball then the time spent on your first activity can be carried over to your second activity.

I CAN'T FIND AN ACTIVITY TO DO FOR ONE OF MY SECTIONS.

Go to the guidance "CHOOSING SECTION ACTIVITIES" and use the lists to help you select a suitable activity.

Can a family member be my assessor?

No, but you should be able to use a family friend or neighbour to do this. If you are doing an activity based at home e.g. Cooking, you could ask a teacher to be your assessor or a neighbour.  If you need more guidance ask your leader for advice.

How do I submit my assessor's report?

There are two ways of doing this, both of which will be demonstrated for you at one of our Theory Sessions in the Youth Centre.
Firstly, you can use the assessor report sheets in the DofE logbook which you received.  Make sure all the relevant information is included:
Your name, the section you are doing, the length of the section i.e. 6 months.  The assessor then writes the report,  clearly stating what you did, the overall length of time you carried out the activity, the frequency i.e. one a week.  They must sign and date the report and include their email address or phone number.  You then upload this page to your edofe account.
Secondly, the assessor accesses the "DofE Assessor Report" page using google.  They then enter your personal 6/7 figure edofe number, the level you are doing and the section i.e. Volunteering.  They can then complete your report online and are guided with their responses.  They then email the report directly to your leader.  We strongly recommend that you use this method as it is paperless and your assessor can complete it at a time of their choosing.

My assessor report has been queried by DofE

If you receive a message from DofE querying a report you need to resolve the query and ask your assessor to resubmit the report.  This can be avoided if both you and your assessor are careful with the original report.  Most queries relate to one of the following issues:
  • The start and end dates are not shown
  • The period of time undertaken does not meet the criteria necessary i.e. 6 months
  • The assessor does not state the frequency you attended
  • The assessor is a family member
  • The assessor has not signed the report or included their contact details
If you need help contact your leader.
